does Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Louisiana spend the money donated
to the Foundation?
80% of our funds go directly to program services for wishgranting.

What are your sources of funding?
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Louisiana finances its work through individual
contributions, corporate donations, foundation grants, internal events
(special events we plan) and external events held on our behalf by community
businesses, organizations, clubs and schools. The Foundation also relies
on in-kind contributions (goods & services) to help defer the cost
of wishes. The Make-A-Wish Foundation does not solicit by telephone
or door-to-door.

What is your annual budget?
Our budget for the 2001 fiscal year (Sept. 1, 2001 - August 31, 2002)
was approximately $935,000.

Have you ever denied a child a wish due
to lack of funding?
NO! Because of the generosity of community members, businesses, and charitable
foundations, we are able to grant a wish of the highest quality to all
eligible Louisiana children that are referred to us. Also in-kind donations
of goods and services allow us to make every dollar donated for wishgranting
purposes go twice as far.

Can we pay for a particular wish?
Yes, through our Wish
Sponsorship program.

How much does an average wish cost?
A wish can be as simple as a tricycle and as elaborate as a trip to the
Olympics. The average cost of a wish is $5,000.

How can we help raise money?
There are many ways to help, from school and community programs, to individual
and corporte gifts, to sponsoring special events.

Is there a minimum donation?
There is no minimum donation. A gift of any size you feel comfortable
with will help touch the lives of our courageous wish children and their
families creating precious memories.

What kinds of donations do you accept?
We accept gifts of cash, stock, bonds, mutual funds, annuities, in-kind
donations, and frequent flier miles.

Is my donation tax deductible?
YES! The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Louisiana is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt
organization. All contributions are deductible for income tax purposes
to the extent permitted by the law.
